Tigers win big in 'Dig Pink' match

The Tiger varsity team wore "Dig Pink" t-shirts for Monday's match.

Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta won big Monday night as the Tigers defeated Minnewaska in three sets during the their annual 'Dig Pink' match.

For every dig recorded, $31.75 was donated toward breast cancer awareness. Members of the team asked for pledges from local businesses and community members. At the end of the match, the Tigers' dig count was 75 for a contribution of $2,381.25.

The team also raised an additional $833 in donations as of Monday night.

The Lakers put up a good fight, taking the Tigers over the 25-point margin in the first two sets with scores of 27-25. By set three, the Tigers used the momentum for a 25-16 victory.

Terianne Itzen led the Tigers with eight kills and an ace serve. Paige Schieler had four kills and four ace blocks.

Mikaela Henrichs led in the dig column with 17, followed by Itzen and Sydney Engebretson with 16 and 15, respectively.
