Tigers vs Wildcats hoops game postponed to Saturday
The Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta boys' basketball team just can't quite seem to get to the big game everyone is waiting for. Not that the Tigers don't want to.
The showdown at New London-Spicer has been postponed again, this time to Saturday, Feb. 13. The varsity game will tip off following the B- and C-squad games which begin at 6 p.m.
The Tigers and New London-Spicer were supposed to play their big game late last month but poor weather forced a postponement until Monday, now until Saturday.
Just as the Tigers were hitting high gear with their biggest game of the year approaching, with school being called off, so is the big tango between Minnesota's top Class AA teams.
Tigers coach Mark Torgerson said prolonging the buildup to 1 vs. 2 isn't as big a concern as the team having to wait almost a week to play again. The Tigers won't play until this Friday's home game against Lac qui Parle Valley.
The Tigers are itching to take on New London-Spicer, which won the state title two years ago and reached the state tournament last year with a win over Morris Area/C-A in the Section 6AA title game. The game has little bearing on the regular seasons of both teams, but it could give them a glimpse into the future
"I think both teams want to see where they are at," Torgerson said. "Win or lose, I think they'd like to be able to gauge where they're at."
