Gators defeat Yellowjackets in final regular season duel

The Gators hosted the Perham YellowJackets Monday at the RFC in Morris. The Morris/Minnewaska/C-A/Benson girls came out on top 100-85 against a small, but skilled, Perham team.

Perham showcased returning state swimmer Natalie Murphy in the 50 and 100  free and  the top two divers in the region of Sierra Lynne and Hannah Bedhay. Bedhay scored over 200 points on six  dives.

The meet was close throughout after the 100 fly even though the Gators swam to a  1-2-3 finish led by Ashley Anderson, Amanda Thompson, and Emily Edmunds.

The score opened up at the 100 back event with Meghan Thoen, Agnes Dieter, and Ari Maras placing  second, third, and fourth.

The Gators followed that with a 1-2-3 finish in the 100 breaststroke led by Mason Schlief, Amanda Thompson, and Trisitin Heald.

“Even though it was a Monday meet, we still had improved times mostly from our younger swimmers,” said coach Linda Hoffmann.

Improved times were recorded by  Julia Ladner in the 100 individual medley; Katie Ohren, Leah Thorstad, and Abbie McNally in the 200 free; Erin Edmunds and Morgan Steinke in the 100 breaststroke;and  Emma Zosel in the 50 free.

Divers Ashlee Boysen and Haley Gallagher both had their personal-best scores for the season.
