Too hot to trot: Cross country meet postponed at Morris

With the heat in the 90s today, the big Morris Area Cross-Country Invite has been postponed until Sept. 17. The meet will be held at a 4:30 p.m. start.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Morris and Stevens County today.  The forecast calls for a mostly sunny and hot afternoon, with a high near 96. Heat index values as high as 106. South wind around 10 mph.

Seventeen boys and girls teams were scheduled for the meet.

Much of the rest of west central Minnesota is under an excessive heat warning this afternoon.
