Hancock fell 40-20 to Brandon-Evansville in the regular season finale Wednesday, Oct. 17, in Brandon.

Jed Feuchtenberger capped off a long, quick Owl drive with a nine-yard run to get the Owls on the scoreboard in the first quarter and trim the deficit to 16-6.

Brandon-Evansville responded with three second quarter touchdowns to go up 34-6 at halftime.

In the fourth quarter, Isaac Nienhaus had a 65-yard run to paydirt on the first play from scrimmage to trim the deficit to 40-13 after a successful point-after by Sergi Artes Sebastia.

Luke Joos had a 22-yard fumble recovery touchdown with just under five minutes left in the game, but the Chargers drained the clock on their next possession to seal the 40-20 win.

Head coach Chad Christianson said his team just couldn’t execute when it needed to.

“We moved the ball, just couldn’t put it in the end zone,” Christianson said Wednesday night. “They outplayed us (Wednesday). Brandon-Evansville is a good team and will be a tough matchup come playoffs.”

Sure enough, the Owls were seeded No. 4 in Section 4 9-man playoffs announced Saturday, Oct. 20 and will host No. 5 Brandon-Evansville in the first round at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 23, in Hancock.
