Four Cougar men recognized by UMAC

Four members of the University of Minnesota, Morris men's basketball team were honored on Wednesday by the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference. 

Steve Birman and Brendon Foss were named to the second team. Foss found himself on the All-Defensive Team as well with teammate Logan OrazemBen Hoidal represented the Cougars on the Sportsmanship Team.

Foss led the Cougars in rebounds per game (7.8) and tied with Birman in points per game (11.8). He was second on the team with a 53.4 shooting percentage. He was third in the UMAC in rebounds per game and 14th in scoring. Foss led the team with 45 steals and 28 blocks on the year. His 1.1 blocks per game were third in the UMAC and his 1.8 steals per game were tied for fifth.

Birman also averaged 11.8 points per game but did most his damage behind the three-point arc. Of his 112 made field goals 99 were from three, that equates to 88.4 percent of his made field goals. Birman averaged 2.4 assists per game and 1.6 steals per game.

Logan Orazem was named to the All-Defensive Team after a season in which he had 97 defensive rebounds and 22 steals in addition to averaging 8.4 points per game. Orazem shot 39.5 percent from behind the three-point arc and 49 percent from the field on the season.

Hoidal, who led the UMAC in three-point shooting, was the team representative on the All-Sportsmanship Team. Hoidal was 29-for-53 on the year which is a 54.7 shooting percentage. His 60.2 percent from the field was also the best in the UMAC.
