Spring Children's Theatre Performance

The spring's theatre children's production of Jack and the Beanstalk, will give its final public performance on Saturday, April 25, at 1 p.m. Theatre arts major Kelli Tucker directs the performances. Staying true to the Morris campus theatre discipline's "Season of Classics" theme, Tucker breathes life into this storybook tale using a "classic" mythical fairytale style. Tinman Triathlon

The 25th annual UMM Tinman Triathlon will take place on Saturday, April 25, starting at 9 a.m. at the Regional Fitness Center. Registration begins at 7 a.m. The course begins at the Regional Fitness Center and ends near the Student Center.

Course Description:

SWIM: 1100 yard swim in 8 lane competition pool. There will be 2-4 people in each lane.

BIKE: 19 miles on gently rolling hills with a good blacktop surface. All cyclists must observe Minnesota traffic laws. ANSI- or SNELL-approved hard shelled helmets are required. Drafting is prohibited.

RUN: 6.2 miles along a bike path in Pomme de Terre Park.

Paul Newman Classic Film Festival screening

The final film in the Paul Newman Classic Film Festival will be shown on Saturday, April 25, at 1 p.m. in the Morris Theatre. "The Sting," directed by George Hill, is about when a mutual friend is killed by a mob boss, two con men, one experienced and one young, trying to get even by pulling off the "big con" on the mob boss. The story unfolds with several twists and last minute alterations.

Taste of Asia dinner

The annual "Taste of Asia" dinner, prepared by members of the Asian Student Association, will be held on Saturday, April 25, at 6 p.m. in Oyate Hall, Student Center. The dinner includes live music, dance, and traditional clothing. There will also be a silent auction. The event is part of the Asian Awareness Week celebration.

James Jarvie and Mitch Grussing senior recitals

The music discipline presents James Jarvie in his senior trumpet recital and Mitch Grussing in his senior piano and composition recital to be held on Sunday, April 26, both in Humanities Fine Arts Recital Hall. Jarvie will perform at 3 p.m. and Grussing will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. There is no admission charged for student recitals.

Morris Community Meal

Morris residents and UMM students are invited to Legacy Living Limited in Morris on Monday, April 27, at 3 p.m. to prepare a warm, healthy meal to serve to the community. This is the final community meal for spring semester. The Morris Community Meal is a collaborative project of students, community members and local businesses that have partnered to provide free meals to Morris residents and to promote a strong, vibrant community. Legacy Living Limited is located at 108 E 6th Street in Morris.

Jazz Tonight Show

Directed by Dr. Jim Carlson, the Jazz Tonight Show will be held on Monday, April 27, at 7:30 p.m. in Oyate Hall, Student Center.

Opera Workshop

An opera workshop, directed by Melissa Hanson and Ray Schultz, will perform Thursday through Saturday, April 30 to May 2, at 7:30 p.m. in the Humanities Fine Arts Recital Hall.
