Kuusisto hired to Cougar coaching staff
The University of Minnesota, Morris has announced the addition of Josh Kuusisto to the track and field and cross country coaching staff. Kuusisto will serve as an assistant track and field and cross country coach, specializing in throwing events. Previously he served as a throws coach in addition to the assistant strength and conditioning coach at Greenville College.
“I am happy and honored to be a part of the University of Minnesota Morris Track and Field team and am looking forward to building on their past success. There is a bunch of great athletes and lots of talent, I am excited to bring my knowledge to the program,” said Kuusisto.
During his time as a student-athlete Kuusisto was a two-time NCAA All-American in the hammer and weight throw in 2013 and 2014. During those years he also won the NCCAA National Championship in both the hammer and weight.
In addition, he performed in classroom being named to the Dean’s List eight times, named Academic All-Conference 2011-14 and was a CoSIDA Academic All-American in 2013 and 2014.
Head track and field coach Jess Devine was excited to have Kuusisto join the staff. “Josh was a great athlete and has done a great coach on the staff at Greenville College. Our student-athletes, especially our throwers, will benefit from this hire,” said Devine.
Kuusisto earned his bachelor of science from Greenville College in 2014. He is currently working on his master of arts in education from Greenville College. Kuusisto has six athletic certifications including three from the United State Olympic Committee.
