The University of Minnesota, Morris men’s soccer team wrapped up the non-conference schedule with a pair of shut out losses to St. Olaf and Augsburg.
St. Olaf 4, UM-Morris 0
The Cougars could not slow a very talented St. Olaf squad as they fell 4-0 on Saturday, Sept. 14. The Oles scored early in both halves to gain control of the match.
St. Olaf's Kevin Skrip scored in the sixth minute of play as a cross was sent in to the box and finished off by the foot of Skrip. Skrip scored his second goal of the match in the 33rd minute to make it 3-0.
In the first minute of the second half Ryan Johnsrud took a shot from about 25 yards out with his left foot and put the ball in the corner of the net making it 4-0. The Cougars pressed for a goal late but were unable to break up the shutout.
Augsburg 1, UM-Morris 0
In their final pre-UMAC tune up, the Cougars fell to #23 Augsburg 1-0 on Sunday, Sept. 15.
The Auggies’ lone goal came in the 22nd minute as a bad clearance ended up on the foot of Edi Beccera. Beccera finished the ball off in the top right corner.
Minnesota Morris had a chance to go up early, but Devin Chuba's strike flew just right of the post. Michael Schuweiler had few chances in the second half. His header was blocked off and then he had a shot go just wide and ended up in the side netting.
Goalkeeper Matt Yost had a pair of saves.
