Cougar women get scorched by Dragons
The Minnesota State Moorhead Dragons got up early, starting the game on a 15-0 run and the University of Minnesota, Morris women's basketball team were unable to recover Friday on the road.
Emily Mehr led the Cougars offensively with 13 points. Kendra Wycoff and Abby Fragodt each had 10 points for the Cougars.
After the Dragons got up 15-0 in the first four minutes, the Cougars got a mini run of their own scoring six straight all by Wycoff who made three free throws and a three pointer. Morris drew within five on a couple of occasions in the first half thanks to Wycoff who had 10 of the Cougars' first 13 points.
The Dragons went on a 6-0 run leading 28-22 and the Cougars were unable to get the deficit back under 10 the rest of the game.
MSUM took a 49-29 lead into halftime ending the half on a 12-3 run.
The Dragons kept the pressure on in the second half extending the lead out to 30 in the opening seven minutes. The Dragons would end up winning the game 90-63.
