Basketball: Owls open 2018 with convincing win

After nearly three weeks off, the Hancock Owls started 2018 strong with a convincing 59-37 win over a 6-2 Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley team Monday, Jan. 8 in Hancock. Ashlyn Mattson scored 20 points, which helped the Owls improve to 4-3 on the season.

Mattson led all scorers, in part due to four made 3-pointers, while teammate Tess Steiner contributed an all-around powerful performance with 15 points, five rebounds, five assists, and eight steals.

The Owls are next in action when they play Renville County West at the Targer Center in Minneapolis on Saturday, Jan. 13.
