Basketball: Owls beat Knights to remain perfect

Hancock hosted its only home game of January when West Central Area was in Hancock Thursday, Jan. 4 for a Pheasant Conference game. The Owls improved to 6-0 on the year with a 65-52 win over the Knights.

Noah Kannegiesser and Bennett Nienhaus led Hancock to the conference win. Kannegiesser scored 28 points and Nienhaus added 21 on five 3-pointers as the Owls remain undefeated through six.

Kannegiesser made three 3-pointers and had six rebounds and four steals.

Daniel Milander had four points, five assists and five steals.

The Owls next take on Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta at 12 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 6 at the University of Minnesota, Morris campus. It is the first meeting between the two teams in just under 22 years. Hancock then travels to Hillcrest Lutheran Monday, Jan. 8, Wheaton/Herman-Norcross Thursday, Jan. 11, then to the Target Center in Minneapolis to take on Renville County West Saturday, Jan. 13.
