Seven homers seal win for Eagles

Five Morris Eagles pounded out seven home runs to sweep the Hancock Orphans 14-4 in seven innings on Wednesday, June 18.

Morris jumped out to an 8-0 start before Hancock got on the board, scoring four runs in the third. Three two-run innings sealed the deal for the Eagles, taking the victory 14-4.

Eric Asche pounded two homers, knocking in five runs to go 2-for-3 at the plate. Tanner Picht went 3-for-4 with two homeruns, three RBI, and scored four times. Craig Knochenmus, Mitch Carbert, and Kirby Marquart all homered in the game to contribute to the Eagles’ 13 hits.

Jacob Torgerson got the win on the mound, pitching six innings and striking out five.

The Eagles now take to the road for contests against Wheaton and Madison on Friday, June 20 and Sunday, June 22, respectively, before hosting Montevideo at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25.
