Beyer, Picht get hat tricks at home

Two Storm players recorded hat tricks against Red Lake Falls to help the Storm secure a 9-2 victory Friday in Morris.

Mac Beyer and Tanner Picht both scored three times for the Storm, along with two from Brody Gimberlin and a single goal by Tanner Mikkelson.

The Storm were up 3-0 after the first period. Beyer got the Storm on the board with an assist from Picht, then 14 seconds later Picht scored off assists from Gimberlin and Beyer. Gimberlin scored the third goal of the period unassisted.

Red Lake Falls got on the board early in the second, but Mikkelson answered within 12 seconds with help from Beyer and Picht. After Red Lake Falls scored again, Gimberlin came back with another Storm goal 15 seconds later. Picht had the assist. Beyer closed out the second-period scoring with an assist from Jordan Staples.

Beyer's hat trick came in the third period with assists from Picht and Gimberlin. Picht scored two in a row with Mikkelson and Gimberlin getting the assists on the first and Staples and Bo Gullickson getting the assists on the hat-trick goal.

Austin Crow had 17 saves for the Storm. Bailey Schmitz and Wyatt Casavan combined for 50 saves in the opponent's net.
