Women's soccer team settles for tie with Northwestern
The University of Minnesota, Morris women's soccer team scored late, but so did the Northwestern, as the two teams battled to a 1-1 tie in Roseville on Saturday afternoon.
Minnesota Morris held a 14-4 shot advantage, but the Eagles' goalkeepers combined for four saves.
In the 76th minute Meghan Laird scored her sixth goal of the season. Katie Kestner and Zoe Bergstrom got themselves on the score sheet picking up the assists. It was Kestner's first assist of the year and Bergstrom's 11th assist of the year.
The Eagles' Lyssa Hester tied the match up just over six minutes later.
The two teams battled into overtime, with NWC getting two shots in the first overtime and the Cougars had three in the second overtime, but neither team found a way to put the ball in the back of the net.
Minnesota Morris will take on Bethany Lutheran on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Semi Finals
