Cougar women shut out Northwestern in overtime

MORRIS, Minn. - It took overtime for the University of Minnesota, Morris women's soccer team to defeat the Northwestern Eagles in a conference match up Friday.

Going into halftime the Cougars and Eagles were tied at zero goals apiece.  Both teams had chances to take the lead, but were unable to capitalize on the situation.  The Eagles had a free kick in the 38th minute just outside the box, but UMM goal keeper Rikki Beaver saved it before it went over her head.

In the second half the game would be much the same, with both teams having opportunities to take the lead, but neither team would score a goal, sending the game into overtime.

Just 59 seconds into the overtime period Kelsi Kolle got a pass from Megan Lard and put the ball in the back of the net for the match-winning goal.  It was her third goal of the season.  Beaver and the Cougars shut out another team for the fifth time in their last six games
