Cougars take first in both men's, women's golf

The University of Minnesota, Morris women's golf team took home the first-place trophy at the North Central Invite winning by a total of 30 strokes Friday. UMM's Abby Fragodt took second shooting an 89.

On the men's side Derek Dionne took home the medalist award tying for first with North Central's Brady Ohman. Overall the men took second, falling just two strokes short of Bethany Lutheran.

The Cougar women placed all five golfers in the top seven at the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Preview at Breezy Point on Saturday afternoon taking first place by 48 shots.

Olivia Bennet took second shooting a 93, just two shots off the lead. Jenna Schneider, Emily Sunderman and Sarah Strenge all shot 98s to tie for fourth. Abby Fragodt shot a 100 to tie for seventh place rounding out the Cougar effort.

The Cougar men took home first-place honors on Saturday as Derek Dionne shot a 74 and won the Upper Midwest Athletic Conference Preview at Breezy Point. UMM beat North Central shooting a 313 comparred to the 322 North Central shot.

John Geiger shot a 77, second best on the team. Collin Anderson and Tyler Sachariason each shot an 81 and Josh Littman shot an 86 to round out the Cougars' day on the links.
