Rentz leads Tigers in final meet, Kolden & Zosel earn all-conference

Andrew Rentz shot 37 to lead Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta to a third-place finish at the final West Central South meet of the season Monday at the Benson Golf Club.

Jordan Kolden carded a 40, Jacob Zosel posted a 42, and Mickey Cotter had a 44 to give the Tigers a team score of 163.

Also golfing for the Tigers were Zach Giese with a 44 and Cody Beyer with a 57.

The Benson/Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg Braves bested Montevideo by seven strokes to earn the extra point needed to tie the Thunder Hawks for the conference championship.

Jordan Burns and Sam Peterson both shot 36 to claim medalist honors and lead the Braves' comeback in what had been a tight race throughout the seven-match season between the two programs.

Benson/K-M-S shot 153 to Montevideo's 160 on Monday. The Thunder Hawks and Braves shared the conference title with 45 points, and Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta placed third with 29 points.

Kolden and Zosel earned all-conference honors by placing in the top 12. Kolden finished second and Zosel took 12th.

Montevideo placed five golfers on the the all-conference team and Benson was next with three. Montevideo's Philip Ward earned overall top individual honors by one stroke over Kolden.
