Tigers clinch conference softball title

Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta clinched the West Central Conference South softball title with an 11-6 win over Yellow Medicine East on Tuesday.

With one regular-season game remaining, the Tigers are 12-1 in the conference and 13-3 overall.

The Tigers put it away early with an eight-run first inning capped by a two-run single by Nicole Strobel and a two-run triple by Steph Hennen.

YME only managed one hit, but drew eight walks and took advantage of two Tiger errors to score six runs.

McKenzie Van Batavia picked up the win, tossing 6-1/3 innings, allowing four runs and striking out 11.

Hennen was 3-for-4 and Olivia Reimers was 3-for-3 with four RBIs.
