Storm end on winning note, start post-season Saturday in Sauk Centre

Morris Benson Area closed out the regular season on a winning note, defeating Wadena-Deer Creek 9-5 Tuesday.

As the No. 9 seed, the Storm boys will start post-season play by returning to Sauk Centre Saturday for a play-in game against No. 8 Prairie Centre.

In Benson Tuesday, the Storm took a 4-0 lead in the first period, before the Wolverines got on the board. Darion Helberg, Mac Beyer, Brody Gimberlin, Kelly Engquist, and Luke Schwarz scored goals to give the Storm a 5-1 advantage after one period of play.

At the end of the second period, the Storm held an 8-3 lead adding goals from Schwarz, Tanner Picht, and Beyer.

Gimberlin scored the Storm's only goal of the third period.
