DeRoeck sets new high jump record for Cougar men

The University of Minnesota, Morris men's track and field team competed in the Cobber Duals at Concordia-Moorhead on Feb. 4.

The big winner was Ryan DeRoeck in the high jump, with his school record 6-feet-4, also earning him the win in the event. DeRoeck won the event by four inches over second place.

Also in the field events, Charlie Warness placed seventh in the triple jump with a 39-feet-7.75, and Ben Kettler placed eighth in the weight throw with a 48-feet-2.75.

On the track, Todd Gramenz placed eighth with a 7.20 in the 60-meter dash, while Nathan Harder finished ninth with his 8.85 in the 60-meter hurdles. Also in the top 10 were Zach Smith in eighth in the 400-meter (51.89) and Leandro Dower at 10th in the 200-meter (23.19).

In the 3000-meter, Declan McCrory paced the Cougars with his ninth-place 10:09.71.

In the relays, the Cougars' 4x200-meter team paced third, with Zach Miller, Nick Solberg, Smith, and Gramenz teaming up for a 95.16.

No overall team scores were kept, but rather just dual meet scores of all the teams competing. When paired up one on-one with the other teams, Morris came out ahead, 95-31 to Presentation and 90-43 against a small North Dakota State team.

They were outdone 113-63 to Mary, 94-67 to Dickinson State, 97-64 to MSU-Moorhead, 94-75 to Minnesota Duluth, 87-69 to Jamestown, and 93-83 to Concordia-Moorhead.

The Cougars return to action this weekend in River Falls, Wis. at the Brooks Invitational Saturday
