Storm boys outshoot Cardinals 61-14 in four-goal win

Morris Benson Area scored just 18 seconds into the game and held onto the lead throughout in the Storm's 7-3 win over Redwood Valley Monday in Southwest Conference action.

The Storm outshot the Cardinals 61-14, putting 25 shots on goal in the third period.

Kelly Engquist scored that first goal on assists from Tanner Kirkeide and Luke Schwarz and assisted on the next goal by Tanner Picht to give the Storm an early 2-0 lead.

The Cardinals got a short-handed goal on the board late in the first period and tied it up late in the second. It was short lived, as Engquist scored again less than a minute later on assists from Picht and Mac Beyer.

Picht started the third quarter with a power-play goal on assits from Schwarz and Beyer, before the Cardinals scored their final goal of the game.

The Storm then netted a flurry of points within two and half minutes to increase their lead to four goals. Taner Gimberlin scored on an assist from Riley Blake, Beyer scored from Andrew Rentz and Jordan Staples, and Schwarz netted the final goal from Brody Gimberlin and Tanner Mikkelson.

Paden Strutz and Matt Huot combined efforts to record 11 saves for the Storm.
