Storm boys hang on to early lead for 6-3 victory

The Morris Benson Area boys' hockey team defeated the Oahe Capitals of Pierre, S.D. 6-3 Saturday.

The Storm quickly took the lead when Luke Schwarz scored a goal just 14 seconds into the first period. Darion Helberg was credited with the assist.

The Storm were up 4-0 by the end of the period with goals by Tanner Picht from Paden Strutz; Corey Storck from Kelly Engquist and Mac Beyer; and Brody Gimberlin from Scharz and Picht.

The Storm added one more goal early in the second when Mac Beyer scored on assists from Engquist and Jordan Staples before the Capitals got on the board later in the period.

Trailing 5-1, the Capitals came out strong in the third period, scoring two short-handed goals less than 30 seconds apart.

The Storm regained control and added the final goal at 14:08 when Engquist scored from Picht and Beyer.
