Tiger wrestlers improve to 3-1 in dual action

The Morris Area/Hancock/Chokio-Alberta wrestling team improved to 3-1 in dual action defeating the Minnewaska Lakers 57-12 Thursday night.

The Lakers were short a couple of wrestlers, but the Tigers started fast again and got solid performances from everyone up and down the line.

The Tigers' Mitchell Ascheman kicked off the dual with a fall over Spencer Winter in 5:28 at 106 pounds.

Travis Ostby followed that pin with one of his own in only 20 seconds over Joseph Weaver at 113 pounds.

Devin Robertsen won via forfeit at 120 and Evan Nelson won by fall in 47 seconds over Weston Lardy at 126 pounds.

The Tigers' Myles Smith at 132 pounds and Dillan Johnson at 138 pounds both received forfeits and then the Lakers finally got on the scoreboard with back-to-back wins.

Zach Steffensen defeated Seth Nelson at 145 pounds 14-11 and Ryan Stottler defeated Jordan Thooft 5-3 at 152 pounds.

Tim Ostby then pinned Brook Wollschlager in 1:35 at 160 pounds and Connor Metzger defeated Tayler Lundebrek 9-3 at 170 pounds.

Jorge Munoz-Pederson scored the final points for the Lakers coming back to pin Wade Ehlers in 4:58 at 182 pounds.

The Tigers then recorded the last three wins of the evening to finish off the Lakers. Tyler Moser scored a last second takedown to defeat Brad Jacobs 10-8 at 195 pounds.

Joel Harrison pinned J.R. Formo in 1:21 at 220 pounds and Zach Gibson defeated Danny Holtkamp 5-0 at 285 pounds.

The Tigers will continue their dual team competition next Tuesday when they head to Olivia to face BOLD and Tracy-Milroy-Balaton. Then next Friday they will participate in the Paynesville Individual Tournament
