Tiger wrestlers down Sting 48-15

The Morris Area/Hancock/ Chokio-Alberta wrestlers improved their dual meet record to 2-1 with a win at Yellow Medicine East Tuesday.

The Tigers recorded their second straight dual meet victory winning 48-15 over the Sting.

This was a complete win with the Tigers filling all 14 weight classes again. The Tigers lost only four matches and just one by pin.

The Tigers' Mitchell Ascheman again set the pace at 106 pounds with a pin over Hunter Stier in 4:44.

Travis Ostby then followed at 113 pounds with a pin in 1:58 over Isaac Rillo.

The Sting's Evan Knutson got them on the scoreboard at 120 pounds with a pin in 1:03 over Devin Robertsen. Before the match, Knutson was recognized for earning his 100th career win prior to the Tiger match.

At 126 pounds, Evan Nelson picked up a 5-4 win over Zack Kluver.

The next two matches went to the Sting. Dylan Johnson defeated Myles Smith 3-2 at 132 pounds and Kirby Qinaon defeated Dillan Johnson 7-2 at 138 pounds. (note: yes, they have a Dylan Johnson and we have a Dillan Johnson)

The Tigers then kicked into high gear winning the next four matches. Seth Nelson defeated Wyatt Hatch 7-2 at 145 pounds.

Jordan Thooft won by pin over Brendon Steckleberg at 152 pounds in 2:45.

Tim Ostby received a forfeit at 160 pounds and Connor Metzger pinned Aaron Lalim in 2:52 at 170 pounds.

The Sting picked up their final win of the night when Ted Refsland defeated Wade Ehlers 10-3 at 182 pounds.

Then the Tigers finished the Sting off with wins in the final three matches of the night. Tyler Moser, making weight at 195 pounds for the first time this season, pinned Trey Cox in 3:55.

Joel Harrison then defeated Cody Bossman 6-1 at 220 pounds.

Zach Gibson defeated Tim Savig 5-0 at 285 pounds.

The Tigers travel to Minnewaska on Thursday night.
