Tigers open wrestling season at Jaguar Tournament

The Morris Area/Hancock/Chokio-Alberta wrestling team opened the season Friday in Belgrade with a fifth-place finish in the annual Jaguar Tournament.

This was a new tournament for the Tigers to see new competition closer to home. Also new for the Tigers was the new weight class changes. Major changes were made from top to bottom and this was the first opportunity to compete at the new weights.

The Tigers wrestled very well placing three wrestlers in the finals. Tim Ostby captured the 152-pound weight class with a pin of Ethan Ator of Yellow Medicine East in 1:53 of the first period. Ostby pinned all three of his opponents for the day in the first period.

Joel Harrison captured the title at 220 with a 13-7 win over Tanner Bedel of MACRAY/RCW.

At 285, Zach Gibson defeated Tim Savig of YME with a 5-2 decision.

The Tigers finished in fifth place with 108 points. New London-Spicer captured the team title with 197.5 points. The point totals were as follows:

At 113 Travis Ostby placed third winning by fall over Colby Schramel (BBE) 2:04.

At 138 Myles Smith took fourth with a fall to Tylor Kent (B/EV) :45.

At 170 Conner Metzger placed fourth losing a 5-4 decision to Austin Butler (B/EV).

At 182 Wade Ehlers took fourth with a fall to Shawn Johnson (WIL) 1:35.

Matt Munsterman went 0-2 at 106.

Max Feuchtenberger went 0-2 at 120.

Evan Nelson went 1-2 at 126.

Dillan Johnson went 1-2 at 132.

Seth Nelson went 1-2 at 145.

Tony Domnick went 1-2 at 160.
