Two big innings catapulted the Wheaton Bandits over Hancock legion, 10-3, on Thursday, July 13 in sub-district playoff action in Wheaton.

The Bandits opened the game with a four-run first. The inning was highlighted by three hits, one being a RBI by Sam Adelman. A bases loaded walk and a wild pitch also scored two runs.

The game would hold at 4-0 until the fifth inning when Hancock got on the board. The inning started with two walks to put Zach Flaten and Daniel Milander on base. Then with one out, Michael Milander plated both with a triple. Collin Brown followed that up with a single to score M. Milander and make it 4-3.

That would be the closest Hancock would get in the game as Wheaton exploded for six in the bottom half of the inning. The bottom of the frame was highlighted by a three RBI triple by Matt Thielen, who scored later on a wild pitch to give Wheaton the final 10-3 lead. Sam Adelman recorded another RBI in the inning, hitting in Lukus Adelman, who led off the inning with a double.

Thielen had three hits with two runs scored to pace the Bandits. Sam Adelman also had three hits and two RBI while Lukas Adelman went 2-for-3 at the plate and took the win on the mound. Lukus Adelman gave up just one hit in three innings. Sam Adelman and Eric Schwagel came in in relief.

Hancock was led by Milander, who went 2-for-3 with a double, triple, two RBI, and a run scored. Brown and Tanner Pahl had other Hancock hits.

Chandler Gramm was tagged with the loss. He went two innings and gave up four runs on five hits, walked two, and struck out two. M. Milander and Brown came in in relief.
