Gators fall to Albany

The Morris Area/ Minnewaska girls' swimming and diving team fell to Albany Sept. 15.

Albany avenged a loss to the Gators in last year's dual meet.

"The meet had some very close races in both JV and varsity," said coach Linda Hoffmann. "You can always count on a good swim meet between us."

The Gators took several first-place finishes. Bridget Opdahl placed first in the 50 and 100 free and second in the 200 medley with Alexis Banister and Bridgitte Weaver as well as the 400 free relay along with Paige Entzi, Weaver, and McKayla Smith.

Entzi placed first in the 200 individual medley and 100 backstroke. She took second place in the 200 medley and 400 free relay.

Julie Helander improved her score to 141.75 to take first place in diving.

"Mason Schlief dove for JV and did very well on the execution of her three-dive list," added Hoffmann.

Notable time improvements were recorded by: McKayla Smith in the 500 free; Ari Maras in the 50, 100 and 500 free; Tristin Heald in the 100 breaststroke; Miranda Cerney in the 50 free; Ashley Homme in the 100 free and 50 free; Kate Folkman in the 50 free; Agnes Dieter in the 100 free; Emily Reuther in the 100 free; and Darrian DuVall in the 50 fly, 50, and 100 free.
