Tigers drop home opener, battle Braves

The Morris Area/ Chokio-Alberta volleyball team opened conference play with losses to Montevideo and Benson this week.

The ThunderHawks got solid hitting performances from their entire front line to defeat the Tigers in three games Tuesday in Morris.

Montevideo's Kendyl Anderson, Dani Emkes, Olivia Bisel, Nettie Duvall, and Ashley Hoehne combined for 20 kills, and Kelsey Amborn was perfect on 55 sets and had 17 assists.

The Tigers got 10 kills from Terianne Itzen and eight from Sydney Engebretson.

Emma Peterson had 14 kills and served 10 aces to help lead Benson to a win over the Tigers in four games.

The Braves' Samantha Goff had 11 kills, Ellen Reuss had nine, and Bethany Erhardt had eight.

The Tigers' Itzen had 16 kills and Jaimie Bergerson had 10. Itzen also had two ace blocks and 16 digs.
