Tigers stay perfect in conference softball

The Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta Tigers stayed perfect in the West Central Conference South by defeating Atwater-Cosmos-Grove City on Friday 5-2.

The Tigers had to work hard for this win. The Falcons tied the game 2-2 with two runs in the bottom of the sixth on RBI hits by Natasha Dallmann and Jacey Nelson.

But the Tigers scored three in the top of the seventh on an RBI ground out by pitcher Mackenzie Weatherly that scored Katie Holzheimer, who reached on the third of her three hits, for a 3-2 lead. Haley Scheldorf's RBI single added cushion.

Weatherly, whose first-inning double scored Dani Schultz, threw a four-hitter with 10 strikeouts.

Sadie Fischer was 1-for-4; Katie Holzheimer was 3-for-4; Dani Schultz was 2-for-3, with a double and an RBIi; Macckenzie Weatherly wsa 1-for-3 with two RBI; Haley Scheldorf was 1-for-4 with an RBI; Kelsey DeCamp was 1-for-4; Hannah Sayles was 2-for-3; and Courtney Ehleringer was 1-for-4.

Nelson had two of the four hits for the Falcons, who were outhit 12-4.

The Tigers are now 11-0 in the WCC-South and 12-1 overall.
