Tigers turn back the Sting

Taylor Hufford's two-run single in the top of the fifth inning drove in the tying and go-ahead runs as Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta came from behind to upend Yellow Medicine East 6-4 in West Central South baseball on Thursday.

Hufford scored on an error for the fourth run of the inning. Earlier Ryan Beyer's double made it 4-3 before he was cut down at the plate trying to score on a squeeze play.

The Sting got three of their four hits and all of their runs in the first inning. Garrett Cole and Austin Thorstad each doubled in a run and then Luke Stevens doubled in two more.

But Tigers' pitcher Tyler Hansen didn't give up another hit before departing in favor of Eric Riley with one out in the sixth. Hansen got the win and Eric Riley the save.

Stevens pitched into the fifth inning, allowing five hits, three runs -- one earned -- and walking two without recording a strikeout. Reliever Derek Dyrdahl finished and took the loss after surrendering four hits and one earned run while collecting two strikeouts.

Eric Riley and Hansen each had two hits for the Tigers. Hansen doubled and singled to score twice. Alex Erickson was 1-for-4, Cole Riley was 1-for-3; and Ethan Bruer was 1-for-3
