Tigers take lead in conference softball

Mackenzie Weatherly fanned 14 batters in a seven-hitter as Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta defeated Minnewaska 9-6 on Tuesday in a battle of undefeated West Central Confrence South leaders.

Weatherly was supported by a 17-hit attack.

Both teams scored six runs in their half of the fifth that ended with Morris/C-A in front 7-6.

Sadie Fischer and Courtney Ehleringer both had run-scoring doubles in the fifth.

Aundrea Johnson hit a three-run homer for the Lakers in the bottom of the fifth.

Fischer also had an RBI single in the sixth to pad the Morris/C-A lead.

Fischer went 3-for-5 with a double and two rbis, Hannah Sayles was 3-for-4, Katie Holzheimer was 1-for-5 with an rbi; Dani Schultz was 2-for-3, Hayley Scheldorf was 2-for-5 with a double and two rbi; Courtney Ehleringer was 2-for-4, Weatherly was 2-for-4 with a double; Hayley Heinrichs was 2-for-4 with a double and two rbi.
