Cougars added to Honor Society

The University of Minnesota, Morris is proud to announce the 2011 inductees to the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society.

To be eligible for the Honor Society, the student athletes must be in either their junior or senior year, and must maintain at least a 3.40 cumulative grade point average throughout their coursework.

Joining the select group this year is:

• Kyle Bruns (Brandon, Minn.), Jr., Basketball/Baseball

• Kali Cordes (Glenwood, Minn.), Jr., Soccer

• Matt Ellison (Cloquet, Minn.), Jr., Cross Country/Track & Field

• Rachel Harstad (Hampton, Minn.), Jr., Soccer

• Deidre Konold (Roseville, Minn.), Jr., Golf

• Gemma Miltich (Cohasset, Minn.), Jr., Cross Country/Track & Field

• Leah Parker (Minnetonka, Minn.), Jr., Soccer/Track & Field 

• Kristina Roe (Becker, Minn.), Jr., Swimming & Diving

• Ben Schield (Two Harbors, Minn.), Jr., Track & Field

• Sonja Smidt (Apple Valley, Minn.), Jr., Cross Country/Track & Field

• Chris Thompson (Litchfield, Minn.), Jr., Baseball

• Jane Yackley (Mendota Heights, Minn.), Jr., Swimming & Diving 

Four of the honorees hold GPAs over the 3.80 mark, including Miltich and Cordes who each lead the pack with their 3.95. Last fall, Cordes was also named to the Academic All-District third team by CoSIDA.

This list also includes All-Conference honorees, Academic All-Conference performers, and conference champions.
