Tigers' upset bid falls short in girls' basketball

The West Central South-leading Benson girls' basketball team trailed at halftime 32-30 Thursday, but the Braves ignited a rally in the second half to help collect a 72-60 win over Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta.

Erin Schieler with 22 points and Erica Domnick with 19 led the upset bid for the Tigers, but Benson outscored the visitors 42-28 in the second half. Emma Peterson knocked down five three-pointers in the second half for the Braves.

Domnick grabbed 15 boards and Schieler had nine.

Hannah Sayles dished out five assists for the Tigers.

Emily Auch paced Benson with 25 points and 14 rebounds. Samantha Goff added eight rebounds and Beth Larson seven assists.
