Tigers suffer first loss in volleyball

The Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta volleyball team suffered the first loss of the season Sept. 9 at Benson with a 3-2 loss to the Braves. The Tigers started out the match with a win, and after the Braves won two straight, the Tigers forced a fifth set to determine the winner (20-25, 25-19, 25-19, 20-25, 15-12).

The match was intense throughout, with many lead changes along the way. Tiger coach Caleb Greene said his team played with a lot of heart and was disappointed with the final outcome.

Carrie Roske put in an outstanding performance in the back row, recording 56 digs in the match.

Erin Schieler led the Tigers with 12 kills and three ace blocks.

Dani Schultz had 23 digs and seven kills.

Shadow Olson recorded five kills and 11 digs.

Haley Scheldorf had 11 assists and 23 digs.

Mackenzie Weatherly put up 16 assists and had 14 digs.

Kelsey DeCamp also recorded 14 digs.
