Buddies finishes second in League

Buddies baseball team settled for second place in the ChippewaLeague tournament, losing to Minnewaska I 5-3. There were two evenly matched teams and it was a very entertaining game to watch.

Minnewaska took a 2-0 lead in the second inning, but Buddies was able to cut the lead in half in the top of the third. Alex Copa and Sean Cunningham both reached on errors. Bryce Schmidgall then reached on a fielder's choice to load the bases. Following two outs, Michael Milander reached on another error with Copa scoring.

Minnewaska added three runs in the fourth to take 5-1 lead, but Buddies answered back with two runs in the fifth. Alex Copa lead off with a walk and Sean Cunningham and Bryce Schmidgall walked to load the bases. Following an out, Andrew Shaw reached on an error, with Copa scoring. Michael Milander grounded into a force out with Cunningham scoring. Buddies could get no closer.

Chandler Gramm started on the mound for Buddies. He pitched three innings, giving up two runs on three hits. He walked three and struck out seven. Brett Kellner pitched the fourth inning giving up three runs on one hit, walked three and struck out one. Collin Brown pitched the final two innings. He gave up no hits on one hit, walked one and struck out five.

The players and coached would like to thank Buddies for sponsoring this baseball team. Also, a thank you from the coaches to the parents for getting the players to games and practices.

Buddies finished tied for second in the regular season with a 4-2 record, and also finished second in the tournament with the team's overall record at 6-3.
