Owls baseball team increases record to 4-3

On April 15 the Owls traveled to Ortonville for for a game and defeated the Trojans by a score of 9-8. Ortonville got on the board first in the first inning with two runs. Dan Lonneman led off the scoring for the Owls in the second inning with a two RBI double.

The Owls scored five in the third inning on hits by Dylan Reese, Quincy Carter, Austin Steege and Collin Cunningham. They added one more in the fourth on a hit by Dylan Reese and Reese batted in another run in the 8th.

Reese was 2-4 with a sac and had three RBIs. Brendon Foss was 2-4 with three runs scored, a base on balls and two stolen bases. Dan Lonneman was 2-5 with two RBIs and Austin Steege was 2-4 with two RBIs. Reese drove in the winning run in the top of the eighth.

Drew Schmidgall pitched six innings and was relieved by Bryan Shaw in the 7th who recorded the win.

On Saturday, April 17 the Owls traveled to KMS for a tournament where they took on KMS and Osakis.

In the KMS game the Owls lost 18-4 in five innings. Drew Schmidgall was 3-5 with two doubles and one run scored recording three RBIs. Brendon Foss was 1-2, Austin Steege 1-3 with a run and Collin Cunningham was 1-3.

Cory Schroeder started the game pitching and was relieved by Dylan Reese in the second.

The Owls were also defeated in the Osakis game by a score of 10-6 despite the fact that they hit three home runs in the game.

Cory Schroeder was 2-4 with a home run in the first inning and had two RBIs. Bryan Shaw was 2-3 with a home run and a walk and two RBIs. Dylan Reese was 2-4 and Drew Schmidgall was 2-4 with a home run in the second.

Austin Steege was the starting pitcher lasting two and two thirds inning. He was relieved by Bryan Shaw who pitched four and one third innings, striking out two.

On April 19 the Owls hosted Chokio-Alberta for a conference game and defeated them 10-0 in six innings. The Owls recorded 15 hits in all in the game and improved their record to 2-1 in the conference.

Drew Schmidgall had four hits for four at bats, scoring twice and recording three RBIs. He was also the catcher for the entire game.

Bryan Shaw had two hits for four at bats with a double in the third and three RBIs. Dan Lonneman, was 2-3 with one RBI. Brendon Foss was 3-4 with three runs scored. He also pitched a six inning shut-out for the win.

The Hillcrest Lutheran Academy team came to town on April 22 and went home in defeat with the Owls taking the win 3-2. Brendon Foss singled in Austin Steege with one out in the bottom of the seventh to score the winning run.

Bryan Shaw also scored on a bases-loaded walk and Foss singled in a run to tie the game 2-2 in the sixth. Drew Schmidgall pitched the entire game adding another win to his record.

The Owls upped their record to 4-3 overall in a win on April 23 over Benson by a score of 7-2.

Austin Steege was 2-3 with a walk and 2 RBIs and a stolen base. Dylan Reese went 2-3 with two RBIs and one run scored. Collin Cunningham was 1-3 with a double in the second inning to drive in two of the six runs scored in that inning.

Pitching for the Owls was Cory Schroeder giving up no runs. Austin Steege got the win pitching two innings and Bryan Shaw closing out the day.
