Lemke breaks pool records at Morris

Stefan Lemke set two new Morris pool records in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle events Thursday at the Regional Fitness Center. The Stingrays were hosting a double dual meet, falling to the Thunderhawks of Montevideo 94-87 and the Chargers of Dassel/Cokato-Litchfield 96-64.

Another highlight of the meet was Roy Reese's new section time in the 200-yard individual medley.

The Morris team achieved seven season-best times in individual events, as well as a season-best times in both the 200-yard medley and free relays.

Next week, the Stingrays host the Lakers of Detroit Lakes on Tuesday for parent night and then on Thursday they host the Western Regional Championships.

In the 200-yard medley relay, the team of Otto Kildegaard (31.22, backstroke), Timm Uhlmann (37.45, breaststroke), Gage Anderson (33.07, butterfly), and Jacob Erickson (26.06, freestyle) swam for a season-best time of 2:07.80.

In the 200-yard freestyle, Lemke took first place with a season-best time of 1:48.48. He was followed by Thomas Roberts' time of 2:43.19. Lemke's time in this event eclipsed the 11-year old pool record of 1:50.04 set in Morris by Nate Rohling of Sartell-St.Stephen in 1999.

In the 200 IM, Reese cut 4.30 seconds and achieved a section time with his 2:32.30. He was followed by Uhlmann's 2:36.72. Reese has now achieved section times in three different events this season: the 50 and 100 freestyle, as well as the 200 IM events.

In the 50-yard freestyle, four Stingrays achieved season-best times: Kildegaard, Erickson, Travis Mithun, and Brandon Pry swam for times of 25.97 (0.38 second cut), 26.97 (1.40 second cut), 29.08 (4.67 second cut), and 30.79, respectively.

Erickson scored 105.10 points and Mithun totaled 79.90 points in the diving event.

In the 100-yard butterfly, Anderson came in with a time of 1:18.16 and Roberts followed with a time of 1:31.24.

Reese took second place with a time of 55.88 in the 100-yard freestyle.

In the 500-yard freestyle, Lemke broke the previous pool record of 5:04.34 in this event held by Paul Fenlason of Sartell and set in 2007. Lemke swam for a season-best time of 5:02.09. He was followed by Anderson's time of 6:49.49.

The Stingrays' 200-yard freestyle relay set a new season-best mark with a third-place time of 1:40.21: Lemke (23.38), Reese (25.21), Kildegaard (25.65), and Uhlmann (25.97).

In the 100 backstroke, Kildegaard took third place with a time of 1:11.08.

In the 100-yard breaststroke, Uhlmann came in with a time of 1:26.29, was followed by Pry's time of 1:27.29.

In the 400 freestyle relay, the team of Erickson (1:01.67), Anderson (1:03.57), Lemke (51.90), and Reese (55.69) finished with a third-place time of 3:52.86.

Junior Varsity

In the 200-yard medley relay, the team of Aaron Lawrence (42.89, backstroke), Fabian Gerber (42.69, breaststroke), Mickey Cotter (36.48, butterfly), and Pry (30.33, freestyle) swam for a time of 2:47.86.

In the 100-yard freestyle, Cotter and Mitchell Kill took second and third place with times of 1:14.04 and 1:15.53, respectively.

In the 200-yard freestyle relay, the team of Roberts (29.24), Mithun (27.78), Gerber (29.50), and Kill (31.73) finished with a second-place time of 1:58.25.

In the 100-yard backstroke, Lawrence came in with a time of 1:41.51.

In the 100-yard breaststroke, Gerber finished with a time of 1:31.08.

The 400-yard freestyle relay team of Mithun (1:06.10), Roberts (1:15.40), Kill (1:13.39), and Cotter (1:16.99) came in with a time of 4:50.58.
