MAHS fall sports start August 17

All Morris Area High School fall athletics begin Monday, August 17.

Morris Area/ Minnewaska/ Chokio-Alberta swimming and diving practice for grades 7-12 will meet at 8 a.m. at the RFC competition pool. Bring suits and be ready to swim. All swimmers must have passed level three of swimming lessons. Any change in time will be announced on KMRS/KKOK.

Morris Area/ Hancock/Chokio-Alberta girls' cross country and MASH boys' cross country for grades 7-12 will begin at 9 a.m. Meet in the front door in the foyer area of the high school. Be ready to start running.

Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta girls' tennis practice for grades 7-12 will meet at 7 a.m. at the high school courts.

MAHS football conditioning will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 12 noon for grades 9-12 at the elementary school.

Football for grades 7 and 8 will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 1. Equipment will be handed out at 8 a.m. and practice will conclude at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Practices for the rest of the week will be from 8 to 10 a.m.

Volleyball practice for grades 9-12 will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the elementary game gymnasium. Practice for grades 7-8 will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Athletes should bring their own water bottles, indoor shoes, and outdoor shoes for running.

Athletes are reminded to have a current medical physical on file at the high school office. If a student participates yearly, it is necessary to have this physical examination in seventh and 10 grades. A health questionnaire shall be completed annually by all athletes and could indicate the need for a physical examination prior to participation. The signature of a parent or guardian approving participation is required. Also, parents must complete the MSHSL parental forms and payment of fees at the office. Yellow slips need to be given to coaches in order to practice the first day. The Morris Area High School office is open daily from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The All Sports Kick Off will be held Wednesday, Aug. 19 at 7 p.m. in the high school auditorium. This event is for any athlete planning to participate in athletics for the 2009-2010 school year.
