Eagles go 0-2 over the weekend

The Morris Eagles dropped two games over the weekend to tarnish their undefeated season. The Eagles were edged by both Champlin and Watkins on Friday and Saturday, respectively and now host the Hancock on Wednesday, June 18 before traveling to Wheaton to take on the Wheaton Walleyes on Friday, June 20.

Champlin 2, Morris 1

The Morris Eagles were edged by the Champlin Logators on Friday the 13th in Watkins. Despite out hitting the Logators in the seven-inning contest, the Eagles dropped the game 2-1.

Kirby Marquart, Ryan and Mac Beyer, and Mitch Carbert combined for the Eagles four hits in the losing effort.

Sam Mattson pitched a complete game on the mound, allowing three hits and two earned runs.

Watkins 4, Morris 3

The Watkins Clippers used a four-run fifth to oust the Morris Eagles from Highway 55 tourney in Litchfield on Saturday, June 14.

The Eagles had five hits in the 4-3 loss. Cole Riley led at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a RBI. Tanner Picht, Marquart, and R. Beyer each contributed a hit. Picht plated twice, and R. Beyer’s hit knocked in a run.

The Eagles had one error behind Nate Haseman who took the loss on the mound, allowing nine hits and three unearned runs in five innings pitched.
