Minnesota Morris sets several UMAC records

Both the University of Minnesota, Morris men’s and women’s track and field teams finished second in the UMAC Indoor Track and Field Championships on Saturday, Feb. 22. The men had nine first place finishes including winning the first four running events of the day. The women added four first place finishes. The men finished with 186.50 points and the women had 119 points.

In the distance medley relay both the men’s and women’s team took home a first place finish. The women had a time of 14:05.47 and the men had a time of 11:07.76, setting a new meet record. The next relay saw the Cougars take home first place once again. The women won with a time of 1:52.52 and the men won in a time of 1:34.09. Combellick also won the 800m, setting a new meet record with a time of 1:56.16.

Linda Keller set a new meet record in the mile, winning the race in a time of 5:14.92. Chalmer Combellick just missed out on a meet record finishing the mile in a time of 4:22.05. Nathan Harder won the 60m hurdles crossing the line in 8.55, .07 ahead of teammate Ryan DeRoeck. DeRoeck earned his first place finish in the high jump with a height of 1.84m.

Leandro Dower set a new meet record with a time of 22.71, winning the 200m. Rachel Wingenbach had the second fastest time ever at the UMAC Championships in the 5000m, finishing second in the race. The men’s 4x400m relay team also set a new meet record, taking first place in a time of 3:28.02, just .42 ahead of St. Scholastica.

Jennifer LaRoque came just .04m shy of her own UMAC meet record in the high jump while taking first place with a jump of 1.53m. Whitney White came up just short of winning pole vault, losing in a rare jump off to finish second. Tony Ceroll won the long jump in his first ever UMAC Indoor Track and Field meet with a height of 6.40m.
