UMM sitting pretty into day three

The University of Minnesota, Morris slipped to fourth in the second day of the Liberal Arts Championships, but sits just six points out of third. The depth of the Cougars swimming and diving team showed up well on Friday night.

The 200y medley relay team of Kaitlin Kamm, Andelee Quast, Hanna Gasaway and Natalie Reynen wrapped up a sixth place finish in a time of 1:56.22.­­ Kayla Gastecki, Kayla Kranitz, Quast, Gasaway, and Sam Salathe finished 9th, 10th, 13th, 14th and 15th in the 400y individual medley providing the Cougars with some great point totals.

Courtney Kahnk took ninth in the 100y butterfly finishing ahead of teammates Jessica Fischer, who took 15th and Natalie Reynen who took 16th. Sarah Dens took 14th in the 200y free final in a time of 2:03.81 just .3 away from the 12th spot.

Kamm took seventh in the 100y backstroke in a time of 1:02.34 in the "A Final". Jillian Burns was 16th in the "B-Final" of the 100y backstroke. In the 100y breast stroke Quast took eighth, ahead of teammate Natasha Miller who finished tenth. In the final race of the day, the 800y free relay, Minnesota Morris took fifth with a time that was 14 seconds better than their seed. Gastecki, Tori Brua, Kahnk and Dens were the Cougar swimmers in the relay.

Carissa Fuller finished third in the 1M dive earing 16 points for the Cougars. Erika Wielenga and Jessica Martineau took seventh and eighth in the same event.
