Cougars fall to Cobbers

The University of Minnesota Morris Cougars dropped a road contest 75-41 to Concordia Moorhead on Tuesday, Nov. 26.

Emily Auch had a season high 11 points in her first start of the year on 5-8 shooting.

The Morris defense forced 18 turnovers and held the Cobbers to just 2-9 shooting from three in the second half.

Concordia began the game on a 17-0 run, holding UMM scoreless until Brooke Decker completed a three point play with 11:38 left in the first half.

Decker would finish the game with six points and two turnovers.

The Cobbers pushed their lead to 19 before Morris cut it to 15 with a jumper from Auch. Concordia College responded with a 10-0 run taking a 25 point lead with 5:58 left. Trailing 35-9 Morris came alive and went on a 12-0 run as six different Cougars scored.

In the second half Concordia went on a 19-4 run in the opening 7:35 to put the game away. Minnesota Morris was unable to comeback and fell to 1-2 on the young season.

The Cougar bench scored 20 points, led by eight from Tori Hot. The Cougars were successful in forcing the Cobbers to foul and got to the line 20 times on the night.

Morris is back in action December 3 as they travel to take on Mayville State at 5:30 p.m.
