Prep Volleyball: Three area teams fall short of state

Three Tribune-area volleyball teams had their dreams of reaching the state tournament scuttled in section finals on Saturday.

BBE fell to Nevis in three games in the Section 5A championship game in Pierz. The Jaguars finished their season 24-8.

Morris/Chokio-Alberta lost to Marshall in three games in the Section 3AA final at Southwest Minnesota State in Marshall. Morris/CA finished 19-6. The Tigers started out 2-3 before winning 17 of 19 to reach the title game against five-time state champion Marshall, which is the two-time defending Class AA champion.

In Section 2A, BOLD lost to Martin County West 3-1 at Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter. The West Central South Conference champion Warriors ended the season 19-6.

West Central North Conference champion Sauk Centre, winner of the previous three Section 6AA championships, lost to Dassel-Cokato 3-1 at the College of St. Benedict. The Mainstreeters (28-4) defeated D-C to win last year's section crown.
