Sun Tribune Editorial: Thanks for takeover; Theater needs lights
Thank you Minnesota Vikings and Innovative Office Solutions for the Vikings take over of Morris May 3 and 4.
The take over came as a result of the Morris Area/Chokio-Alberta football team being named Minnesota's Football Program of the Year and the In The Game Award recipient in a program sponsored by the Vikings and Innovative Office Solutions.
Kids and adults had fun participating in the events from KFAN's live broadcast to the chance to meet some Viking players and cheerleaders. The tailgate sponsored by the Morris Area Sports Boosters Club was so successful, members had to make at least one run to get more food.
The take over honored the football team and the community's support of it. And while there was plenty of talk about football, the take over also made sure students heard about the importance of good nutrition, exercise and goal setting. Partners in the take over such as the InSports foundation had a chance to share why providing opportunities for kids to play sports and eat good food are important.
All the activities certainly created memories for the community. Skol Vikings.
Shed some light on it
The Morris Area School Board recently heard a facilities review update from Winkelman Building Corp. which included various recommendations and ideas for improvements in the high school.
Some of those suggestions including replacing and or upgrading the lighting in the high school theater or auditorium.
Frankly, the entrance and the aisle in the high school theater are dark and dangerous. The lighting is murky at best. The lighting needs immediate attention, a quick fix that needs to happen before any facility improvement project is approved.
The long term lighting improvement should happen but it's unfortunate the lighting in the entrance and aisles had remained so poor for this long.
