Lester Rodney Kjeldahl

Lester Rodney Kjeldahl, 84, of Pine River, Minnesota, died Saturday, June 24, 2017 at Essentia-St. Joseph Medical Center, Brainerd, MN.

Lester was born on May 6, 1933 at Belgrade, MN to parents Silas and Ella Kjeldahl. Lester was baptized at Big Grove Lutheran Church in rural Belgrade. The family moved to Cyrus, MN; Lester graduated in 1951 from Cyrus High School.

He served in the U.S. Navy and was stationed at the Great Lakes Naval Base in Illinois. He married Vivian on May 10, 1968, together they lived in Pine River, MN for 49 years. Lester worked for Marten Parking Ramp for 37 years parking cars.

Lester would arrive early at his sister's house to help make lefse and rmmegraut while drinking coffee and awaiting the arrival of his other siblings for family gatherings. His early presence was highly cherished and will be genuinely missed. He also enjoyed working and going to flea markets around Minnesota.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Elva Abrahamson; brothers, Lloyd Kjeldahl and Jerry Kjeldahl.

Lester is survived by his wife Vivian; sister, Ardis Lewis of International Falls, brother, Harold Kjeldahl of Cyrus, MN; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services were held Thursday, July 6, 2017 at the Scandia West Cemetery in Cyrus, MN with Reverend Chris Richards officiating.
