Westrom, Ingebrigtsen in Morris Feb. 25

Minnesota District 11 Sen. Bill Ingebrigtsen and District 11A Rep. Torrey Westrom will continue their tradition of co-hosting town hall meetings and have scheduled six events throughout District 11A for Friday, Feb. 25th.

Ingebrigtsen and Westrom will be in Chokio from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Federated Telephone at 405 2nd St. East. They will be in Morris from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Detoy's Family Restaurant at 802 Atlantic Ave.

"This year a big topic is the state budget," Westrom said. "There probably will be a lot of economic talk this time around as we travel the district. People likely will want to address the state's budget deficit and offer suggestions as we work toward a solution to the $6.2 billion deficit."

The lawmakers said the town meetings are a helpful way to gather public input as they make their way through the current legislative session. The public is welcome to attend and constituents are encouraged to offer constructive reforms, ideas to eliminate government waste and ways to balance the budget.

"It's often said that all politics is local,"Ingebrigtsen said, "and meeting with constituents in our communities emphasizes that point. I greatly enjoy the opportunity to hear the real, everyday concerns of the people that send us to St. Paul. I look forward to yet another opportunity to gather their input and advice on the many legislative issues we deal with."
