Jacob Torgerson expected to replace Dosdall in MAHS math
One Morris Area graduate will replace another as a math teacher at Morris Area High School.
Math teacher Tallack Dosdall will resign from his position and will be replaced by Jacob Torgerson as Torgerson has accepted a verbal offer from the school district, superintendent Rick Lahn said. The school board will need to formally act on the hire at the Jan. 23 meeting. Torgerson is the son of MAHS part-time math teacher Mark Torgerson.
The school board had on Jan. 2. accepted Dosdall's mid-year resignation contingent on finding a quality replacement.
Lahn said on Jan. 2 that he was interviewing a "strong candidate" soon.
"I would not let im go in the middle of the year unless we had a strong candidate (as replacement)," Lahn said.
Allowing a teacher to resign mid-year is unusual, Lahn said. Dosdall plans to work in the financial field in the area, Lahn said.
Dosdall said in his resignation letter that he plans to continue to be a supporter of Morris Area Schools.
Lahn said on Jan. 8 that Torgerson is expected to start right immediately after the Jan. 23 chool board meeting. Lahn also expects that Torgerson, like his father, will coach in the district.
Torgerson is a graduate of Mayville State University.
