Morris Area Child Care Center receives $10,000 grant from WCI
MORRIS, Minn. West Central Initiative (WCI) staff surprised Morris Area Child Care Center on May 10 with balloons, fanfare and a grant award of $10,000. The center received the grant from WCI to recognize the organization's hard work to create a brighter future for west central Minnesota.
"West Central Initiative is celebrating its 25th anniversary. To mark this occasion, WCI board and staff decided to provide substantial one-time grant awards to some of the stellar nonprofits in our region," said Nancy Straw, WCI president. "This is a great opportunity for us to recognize organizations whose work greatly impacts the counties they serve but may not normally match our grant guidelines."
"Morris Area Child Care has been working with children and families in the Morris Community for many years. We always strive to provide care in an environment that focuses on not only education, but also family and human values," said Bonny Grant, director of the Morris Area Child Care Center. "So often the work that people do in the area of early childhood is overlooked and underfunded. Our appreciation for the grant, so graciously given to us, is beyond words. We will be using the money to improve our facility and to promote awareness of our vision and our work in Morris and the surrounding communities. A huge thank you to WCI for seeing and valuing what we do."
MACCC serves the families in and around Morris by offering care with an educational balance, opportunities for inter-generational friendships and activities to stimulate ages and stages of development.
