Morris Area High School held its final Jazz Concert of the year on Monday, May 5 in the concert hall with all four jazz ensembles performing.

The sixth grade jazz band performed the ever popular pep band song “Green Onions” arranged by Paul Murtha.

The junior high jazz performed four numbers, including “The Birth of the Blues” arranged by Mike Lewis (See MAHS Junior High Jazz clip).

Jazz II performed two Calvin Custer arrangements, including a swanky song titled “Summertime” (See MAHS Jazz II clip).

Jazz I performed with four pieces that included many soloists. Nicholas Boots, Midori Soderberg and Shaylynn Johnson were among the soloists during the evening performances.

Jazz I ended the night playing “Chameleon” – a fun, upbeat piece where the jazzers wore sunglasses to “blend in” like a chameleon (See MAHS Jazz I clip).

SPECIAL NOTE: Next Friday, May 16 grades 5-8 have a band concert at 7:30 p.m. in the concert hall. The sixth grade jazz band will be performing that night as well.
